I have never been to Vegas, this sounds like it has potential.

This needs a bump. Vegas is probably the most friendly convention city. The other question is when? I would vote for a summer convention.

Thanked: 416the only way you could do a cost effective convention would be if you had a really large number of attendees. one of the reasons we have been doing the local /regional gathering is to help gauge the numbers of people who might attend. Right now I doubt you would have the attendance needed for a real convention. remember you are luck if half of the people who say they will attend actually show up. Also someone has to be financially responsible for the meeting spaces and the cost of those is often based on the number of rooms you can fill in the hotel. I have put on a lot of different conventions over the years so take it for what its worth.

Thanked: 3795Well, maybe convention might be the wrong word for it as far as the hotel would be concerned. Perhaps just the booking of a block of rooms, with the number determined by pre-commitment in the forum, would be sufficient. Most hotels have rooms for smaller gatherings more along the size of a wedding reception and such a room might be able to be reserved for free or discount upon the condition of the booking of a certain number of hotel rooms. While we couldn't fill a convention hall, we might fill a reception hall.
