Default DFW Summer Get-together: Beat the Heat 2009

alright folks, kenrup and I are both interested in doing another get-together! it's been a while since the last one, and it's high time we got together again.

    some things to discuss:
    1. when
    2. where

I'm adding a poll to the thread so we can get an idea of the interest

    eta: mods, please sticky this

    ok, some thoughts of mine:

    1. july, or late june I'm thinking. it usually takes several weeks to wrangle the details.
    2. now that I am a homeowner, I can offer my house for a meetup. there are 3 shave dens, 2 living rooms that have comfortably contained parties of 25+ people, and a large porch. I am half an hour north of downtown dallas, and the DART runs pretty close to my house for those that want to save on gas. if folks still want to go down to sherlock's, that's definitely still an option. (although i don't know how much more stone lapping they want in their bathroom... vgod, i'm looking at you )

    also, thoughts on activities:
in the past, we have had honing seminars by john crowley, diverse arguments about politics, lots of drinking, and the enjoyment of many fine smokables. also we have done soap sampling (which is always nice to smell stuff before you order it) and aftershave/cologne sampling.

if we do it at the house instead of the bar, we can do various lathering and stropping demonstrations as well as honing.

    thoughts?

This could be fun. I am in Wichita and I could probably make a trip down. Its not too horribly far assuming it falls on one of my days off.

    Default Lurker Re-emerges

    Hey boys, sup?

Some uninformed shmuck offered me a professorship (yes, offered - can you believe that *&%$?) in Knoxville, and I think I am going. Will have to do it in late June, but depending on what ya'll come up with - I may just be able to get to this little shin-dig.

Jockey - the soap was good man, I liked it alot - it is gone now! Been real busy, but still get on and follow the exploits quite a bit - so keep the dates coming and let me know when.
