Well Jonathan, the disease of steel is infectious, incredibly virulent to those susceptible and there is no known cure. You really should run now, while you have the chance.

There is a fine group of fellows called the Upper Midwest Blacksmith Association. They are a regional group among ABANA. Go to Abana.org and you will find contact information. That is where you want to start looking for tools. There will be someone close to where you live and I can think of a half dozen really great guys to help you with the grinder stuff when you get ready for that.

Let me know the next time you're going to be in MN. If I'm going to be in the shop you're welcome to visit.

If you publish when you'll be here in the open forum, there will undoubtedly be a crew of poxy demented other razor heads show up to share their disease as well...

As Mike has said, the next time your in the Mpls/St. Paul just let us know. Mike has a workshop that has all the toys. Mine is much more modest but I have built my own grinders and forges which you are welcome to look at for ideas. ChrisL has also built his own grinder and forge. The grinders are called the No Weld Grinder, The plans are available from Tracy Mickley at USAknifemakers.com. Please note that none of this is overly difficult but it does take time and tools and money. One of our guys, Spazola, has also built a bunch of tools, check out his posts and his website, they are a ton of ideas.

I will send you a PM with my phone number...call any time.

    Hello guys,

I just wanted to drop a line to say the next time people in MN get together I'd like to attend. I'd like to see some in person honing as it's a goal of mine this year to be able to rehone my razors.

    Thanks,
    Matt

I'll definitely take you up on that, thanks for the offer.

I'll save this message and send you an email sometime soon. Are there any times that work out better for you than others?

    Matt
