Ron....sorry to hear you can't make it this time!
But moving is a fact of life and family is usually tapped to help out. Been there, done that.

There will be another gathering in 6 months or less. We can lock down a date that is good for you then we will send all your family, friends, co-workers etc an e-mail telling them that your scheduled for gall bladder surgery at the Mayo Clinic. Mike Blue will vouch for you!

Bummer, Ron. Well, next time for certain, eh? Be careful for your back!

Less than twelve hours to go my friends, and my box of all different types of goodies from my stereo mic, razors, stones, horse butt strips, chicago screws, the list goes on and on and on. All in a 10 gallon plastic storage container. This hobby is portable!

    See everyone there.

Ron, I am an osteopath, and have table will travel, or oh crap my truck has a flat, my daughter took it, it's out of gas, and with your bad back seizing up tomorrow morning from lifting some, say kleenex, or that trick pair of wrists with the carpal tunnel thing from honing repetitively for hours, you need to come down and get a treatment...yeah that's the ticket. It should only take a few hours to recover from a good bone setting, you'll have to sit for a while and meditate with a coffee cup while we all commiserate and say how much pain you look like you're having in between questions. I'll trade a treatment for honing advice, no insurance no records. You'll be amazed at how many knuckles the human body really has....I think a good dose of razor comraderie is just what the doctor ordered. LOL.

I just wanted to say it was great to meet everyone today. A special thanks to Mike for letting us use his shop, Bruce for the paddle strop, Chris for the strop paste and information, and last but not least, Randy for the honing demonstrations and setting this up.

    Today was fun!

    Default midwest shaving group

Here is the group of the Midwest SRP. We all met at Mike Blue's shop in Cannon Falls, MN. There were people from all over Minnesota and I think Iowa and Nebraska. Bruce and Randy made some paddle strops and ChrisL had some razors on display. He was also making leather strops for anyone who wanted on. Mike had some nice talks on the history of steel and the different methods of heat treating. Tons of food with BBQ brisket and cold cuts and rolls and plenty of ice tea.
Randy di a fantastic job teaching and instructing people on honing and brought a huge box of antique stones from his collection.
A big thanks to go out to Randy Tuttle who along with Mike put this together and Bruce and ChrisL who brout things to give away for all to take.
    More pic's to follow.

    Default More Minnesota Magic

    All,

The get together was great fun: we had more food than needed - after all this is Minnesota. I think much fun was had and much was learned - ask me about freezing steel. I learned from Mike that it gets cold. See, there is hope for me.

Thanks Randy for organizing the event and Mike for hosting it. Per promise, next time I'll bring lotsa dull razors.

So, Ron, next time, how many weeks how many weeks of calendar massaging do you figure we need to finagle to arrange safe scheduling? Oh, by the by, how was the move?

Oh, I'm the guy with the white tag on my shirt.

Default One pic of and unusual blade and some of ChrisL's razors

Here is a strange blade that Mike has with a funny story about and one of ChrisL's vintage blades. And one of Chris making a strop for someone.
