Looks like you guys had a great time. Sorry I missed it. Unexpected family stuff this morning prevented me from leaving the cities. Hope to hear more about what happened. Thanks for the invite Randy, have to catch the next one.

Thanked: 433Really big thanks to Chris and Bruce for the pasted paddle strop, it brought a blade to the "scary" stage after 20 rounds on the green side and 70 on leather. I never had that on a blade that I honed myself.

Thanked: 995It was good to have some new faces to tag to nom's de net. It's always tough to not get to go to a happening like this and those of you who couldn't make it were sorely missed.
But, there will be another. Kent's wife brought him along and gingerly dropped him off and we were all appropriately sure to let her know how much we appreciated him being allowed to come out to play...
I had a great time paying attention to ChrisL and Randy's lectures this time. There were tons of good questions even from the old guys and lots of working through the reasonable puzzles those represent. There were a lot of little nuances that just don't come across through this medium of words. Seeing a few things happen really brought those into focus in no other comparable way.

Thanks to everyone who participated and put together this event. I for one thoroughly enjoyed myself and I suspect most present did. Thanks Mike for providing such a great setting for the meeting, being a wonderful host and letting us hold the Japanese sword you made. Thanks Chris for the strop, stopping lesson and paste. Thank you Bruce for the paddles. Randy thanks for not only putting a superb edge on my razor, but for taking the time to teach us what you were doing during the process.
For those of you in the area who haven't made it to one of the meets, try your best to make the next one. There's a lot of knowledge in this group and they graciously share what they know. I learned a ton. In fact on the drive home I did a brain dump while my wife wrote what I could remember down. It's just a pity my brain is the size of a pea.
Thanks again.

Thanked: 16Randy - you wanted me to update you on your honing job with my Bergischer Lowe...
It's 7:55pm here, and I'll be going in to start the graveyard shift tonight. I stropped the BL for 50 on the leather side, and did a two pass shave with my newly honed razor...
Smooth as glass, my friend. One of the best straight shaves I've ever had. I know you did a lot of work to get this razor up to snuff, and I kind of feel a little bad for taking up so much honing time, but I REALLY appreciate it.
Thanks to Mike for being such an gracious host, Randy for the honing and the instruction (I learned a lot!), Bruce for the paddle strop, Chris for the chrome ox doctoring and the stropping tips, and everyone else for the conversation, food and straight razor comradeship!

Thanked: 335Coffee and paddles
The coffee was wonderful.
For those who couldn't make it: I have 3 paddles left, 2 that Chris CrOx'd and one which has yet to be greened. From watching Chris, I think I can CrOx the nekkid one. So, the first 3 of our bunch who were unavoidably detained and who PM me with their particulars will get the units mailed to them.
I'd keep them until the next get together, but knowing my abillity to place things in really safe and secure rat holes means that I'd never find them again.

It looks like you guys had a great time. To bad MN is so far away.
The guy with the white tag on his shirt looks a little shifty.
