Thread: Toronto and Area Meet

Just wanted to post up a huge Thank you to MAXI for getting this ball Rolling and Dlllandry for securing a location for us to use. Last and not least of all thanks to Holli4 for teh honing demo and instruction. Managed to get one of my Bokers to what i think to be shave ready on my own, which was a major step forward. MAXI and I spoke previously about doing a summer meet at Wasaga, he seemed to be game for the idea. My thoughts on the subject were to do in August during Corvette weekend. People could choose to spend the night in Wasaga and make it a 2 day type thing including taking in the cars.

The beach, 300 Corvettes, bikinis, beer and striaght razors. Sounds like a recipe for a decent weekend. Let me know what you all think and i can do some leg work. The other option if people do not like cars is there is an 1812 re-eneactment that takes place over a weekend. We could tie in with that, but there are not as many bikinis at that event

I too would like to thank everyone who put this together, and all those who attended. A FANTASTIC get together with some interesting folks...even more obsessed with straight razors than I! LOL! Being a part of this forum gets you 90% there, but these meets help with the final 10% towards experience. It was great having everyone in one place to share their razors, hones and knowledge. I learned a ton.

Most importantly, great to meet the personalities from SRP. A "top shelf" crew and great people all around. Looking forward to the next get together...possibly in Wasaga!

Holli - Thanks for the honing demos. I think we all picked up some tips and tricks from watching and listening.

Everyone - thanks for coming. it was great to have all of us locals (and some international visitors) together. There were some really nice razors on the table, and a lot of empty beer bottles too. I loved the looks we got from all the legion visitors.."What the hell are you guys doing!?"

DY - lets get a Wasaga thing roughed out with a new thread and some dates. Maybe some cheap hotels in the area, or a cottage....who knows. I'm in for it. I'll make the trip from T.O or the cottage, where ever I may be during those days.

** I took a few pics, so if there's no objections, I'll post a few when I get a couple of minutes tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thank you, guys. An excellent meet.

And even better when about 9 pm I got a call from the Legion: They had found my jacket (I thought someone had walked off with my black leather jacket, an anniversary gift from my wife. Turns out the caterers had taken it upstairs by mistake.)

And better yet when I shaved this morning with the Clauss 2502 I honed there after Holli4ès demo. (still needs a bit more work on the heel). Tomorrow Ièll shave with the Dovo.

Oh, and Dllandry, having seen your Celebrated Im now looking into getting a vibratory tumbler. I have Dominion Of Canada W&B that should look great once cleaned up and the etching emphasized.

You mean like with black powder shoots? Is that the same weekend? I'd be interested in that even if it is a different weekend. Let me know the date?

Just arrived back in Rochester, after having spent the night at D's place. I had an awesome weekend. Big thanks to D for securing the location, and to him and his wife for being first rate hosts and having me over. Also thanks to everyone who attended, because that is what makes the meets so fantastic. I'll keep an eye out for future Toronto meets, and I would urge you guys to watch for WNY as well.
