THat is VERY generous of you. THANK YOU. I'll be driving.
I'll be visiting my Son and introducing him to some of the transitions from the STRAIGHT razor which was the standard for a few hundred years...Prolly much more...But the late 1800s started an evolution in shaving. The ROLLS RAZOR with the solid steel blade...called a straight razor on a stick, the DURHAM DUPLEX razor (for 40 years I thought they were for thinning hair...till I got into them..A straighgt razor with a safety bat on it...
THose two pieces I have and maybe some more transitional stuff....BUT I love my old straights...
Hahahaha
ONE I have, in particular is a fine specimen of color and design on the scales...I'll be learning so much about honing and blade edges...
AND MOSYT of all, scarecrow, I look forward to meeting youse guys who share my passion.
Tom

Scales and restoration again, with the honing discussion in the corner. There was some talk of Forging for this one, but I haven't heard anything on that yet. We had so many experienced guys last time that we didn't need to do much honing work.

Thanked: 114I cleared out the garage today to make room for the gathering. I didn't bother getting my blacksmithing stuff out given that rain is in the forecast. Bummer. Maybe next time. As for focus ..... whatever everyone wants to do. There is no set agenda other than to have fun. Based on PMs, some guys are bringing razors to restore and make scales for - should be a lot of fun. Maybe at one of these events someone could bring a barber's chair and offer luxurious shaves for all attendees. Maybe next time ……

I'm looking forward to this - again. Do we need to bring anything, such as snacks or beverages? Supplies?

Thanked: 114Nothing special needed really. Depending on how many people want to get their hands dirty, however, I may run out of safety glasses. Also, folks should bring their own respirators - we’re all friends and all, but I don’t think you want to wear mine. Lastly, the forecast is for weather in the 60 degree range which should be nice, but it still might feel chilly given the rain. A sweatshirt you don’t mind getting dirty could be useful.
