Day one done. We are at the store getting ready for lunch tomorrow, hopefully it will turn out better. Also getting more baguette for the crab. We got two brushes done today and hopefully two more will be done tomorrow. I learned a little bit about my most recent hone purchase and hopefully I will never have to sell it.
I think it was a success overall and some people got to learn a new set of skills.

I hope you mean Heribert Wacker or large razor...cause, eww...
I may be getting tired.
Ya, I'm not going to take my eyes off of that hone for a while. I am really liing that midrange hone as well. I may need to start looking for a good natural bevel setter and have a 3-piece natural set.

Ok, we just got home. I stayed with Pavel to finish turning his brush and honed up a half-dozen razors before my eyes started drooping. Yes, I finally used my new hone. It is truly amazing.
I will start the post meet pics and such at a later date.
I hope everyone had a great time and had all of their questions answered. Please post your experience for those who couldn't make it. We may even get Pavel to post!

Thanks again, Gerrit and Wanda, for hosting this fine event and bringing together a new group of friends. I'm sorry I jetted off so quickly without given a better set of good-byes. Heck, I forgot to say bye to Mike especially. Damn. SWMBO wanted to hit the road, and I lost sight of things....like my hone box for instance. Thanks Glen for returning my beloved Naniwas et al.
I can't wait to shave with my Shapton-honed Thistle thanks to Glen! GSSixgun, you rock sir! You always make for an enlivening time, brother. I wish you have driven the extra 3 blocks to my place tonight for a back-on-the-road cappuccino. That's what the Speedster is for....it's ready 24/7 even if I'm not.
Thanks to everyone for making such a fine meet and looking forward to seeing all y'all in Spokane this coming October.
Cheers, folks!

Thanked: 1Hello all Pavel here. The meet was a great success. I attempted honing, brush handle turning, and Polish beer here for the first time and I thank those who were able to give advice and guide me through the process. Totally worth coming for the great food, drinks, and company alone . I think I will post some brush handle pictures in the near future.

Thanks to Glen's honing of my Thistle at the Yakima meet-up, I had a DFS this morning using that blade for all but the final finish work where I switched over to the Kinfolks I had honed. Those NY steel blades are sharp and excellent shavers. They are going to the top of my rotation along with my finer customs.
I'm looking forward to some custom scales on the Thistle (Orange and Black Micarta) and a clean-up / basic restore on the Kinfolks, Glen. Let me know when you'd like to get started on that work.
