We just got back from Costco. I'll go pick up the rest of the meat tomorrow. I just did some math and I hope you all bring your appetite...
Oh, I know Mariusz was planning on bringing a few beers, does anyone else want to add to the drink list?Last edited by deighaingeal; 05-03-2012 at 03:00 AM.

We also hit Costco tonight for some bare necessities...you know....peanut M&Ms, cashews, pistachios, etc.
I can't believe this Yakima meet is almost here. W00t! Thanks again, Gerrit, for all the hospitality. We expect to arrive into town between 11am and noon on Saturday.

Just a few. Last year I had just a few beers and people shared. The softbeer I made this year is a little spicier than most are used to, so I don't think most will like it. It would be nice to have some variety.
If no one else cancels we should have between 10 and 15 people, which is more than the 4 or 5 last year.

OK, I am not going to make it, bummer.
However, My new razors are! I was going to post pics but was unhappy with my pics and the furniture was not quite done so the grand unveiling will be in Yakima.
Special thanks to Mark and Sarah (who has a great smile BTW). Was a pleasure to meet with them this evening, great people.
The blades may not be pleasing to many, but I hope will be liked by the rest. I made them to fit what I wanted in a blade and to have a very clean look. They also fit my idea of symmetry.
These are fixed blades and needed a longer tang to make them easy to handle on the hone and strop. I think this also makes them handle well for shaving. The blades are 6/8 (spine to edge) and just over 2" long, I did this for how I think it handles on the face. I could not tell you ladies how they would work on the legs or bikini line. The overall length is just over 7". The package fits my idea of how the blade should balance both physically and visually.
Material is O1. Heat treat by Mike Blue to 59 Rc. Grind is near wedge and the edge has no smile and no frown.
The furniture; The razor stands are Jobillo, which is a hardwood from Central America. The shipping boxes are Oak (my guess is Chinese Oak). The boxes are intended for shipping and storage and not display. The are meant to protect the razor and stand in the tradition of fine and precision tools.
The two are different in the tang thickness and width and do have a slightly different feel.
Please pass them around. Handle them, hone them and strop them. Shoot shave with them, that is, after all, their entire purpose in this life. I have one shave on the thicker tang and two on the narrow tang. I did need to test the design. I washed them both in alcohol.
deighaingeal, If you would like to hang on to them for a week or two let me know. We will work out shipping later and I am willing to cover the cost. Your call. Honestly I would appreciate the feedback.
I would appreciate critique from any and all on this pair.
A straight razor is tangible, a cartridge is disposable, a disposable is purchased with the intent of throwing it away!
Hope you all have a good weekend.
