Here are some pictures of the Colorado Meet today. We all forgot our cameras so I broke out the cell and snapped a few. I apologize if they appear lousy.

Thanked: 1Big thanks to everyone today for welcoming a newbie to the fold. I learned a ton and realize I'm just scratching the surface of all there is to learn. I also want to thank everyone for their generosity helping to get me started with this. I'll definitely be at any subsequent meet ups.

Just want to second Bob's thank you. It was extremely helpful and educational. I couldn't thank everyone enough for being patient, knowledgable, and generous. Can't wait to chat more on PM.
All the best,

Hey Everyone,
I had a great time (again). Some of the names are even starting to stick. I greatly enjoyed seeing everyone, checking out new acquisitions, watching all the honing demonstrations, and being around fellow razor enthusiasts. A special thanks to Glen for taking the time to get my Red Point squared away. I will use it later today and report back.
Generous, nice folks!

As promised: Red Point shave report (post Glen's honing job on it).
My beard is barbed wire. I literally can't shave with a straight if I let it go more than 3 days. I have to use a mechanical razor since I'll have to push so hard it will virtually guarantee a cut. I know most of you will say phooey, but it's true.
So, the fact that I got a really good shave with the Red Point after two days of beard growth confirms it was a great honing, and a really good shaving razor. This morning's shave on a normal 1 day growth that resulted in a great BBS with hardly any irritation confirms that it's a keeper.
It is now in my top three straights! Thanks Glen!
And Don, I think you can allow your J-Nat to dry out as you finish the honing!
Thanks again to all. Man, next year is sure a long ways off..... grumble

Hey all,
First chance I've had to throw out some feedback..
It was great seeing the old faces, and it was really good to see some new ones. As always everyone was willing to share, participate and learn. Glen did his usual bangup job keeping us interested. Very educational, no matter how long you have been doing this.
Travis and Val were a treat, and John and Terri are 2 of my favorite people in the world. I am so glad you all could make it.
later on this year, I am going to plan an impromptu honing party/barbeque some random weekend in Sept. or Oct. So we will send out some notifications to this group again to see who would like to participate in that one as well.
Great group of human beings, and I am pleased to be a part of it.
Thanks Glen for making that trip out here again. Your presence makes it truly a special event then!!
Thanks guys, See you all soon.
Hammer-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Hey guys!
I remember last summer a few guys talked about making your own brushes. I've got a wedding coming up and I was thinking about giving shaving gifts, but don't want to break the bank. I was going to buy them some DE safety razors and soap, but the brush really pushes the $$$.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
Thanks! Can't wait to meet up again this year.

Hey Darren,
I've made a few brushes with antler handles that came out nice. But honestly, by the time you buy the drill bit for the plug size you're using, buy the waterproof epoxy, buy the handle material, buy the plugs, do all the work.... you get the point. The Badger or Boar brush "plugs of fur" run about $12 each, on up. You can buy a mighty fine Semogue brush for under $25 each.
Not to be a downer, but I'm thinking you probably have enough on your plate with the Wedding etc.
What DE razor are you looking at? The Edwin Jaggers are a pretty nice looking/performing razor for the money.
Congrats, BTW!
If you wanna follow up on brush making I'll be glad to get you more info. I'm no expert, but mine came out pretty nice.
