My order processed on 11 December. No word of shipment yet. Mike will let you know when it ships, after that you get to blame customs and slow boats. NOTE that i am not complaining, only sharing so others who have ordered/might order know.
I have managed to force myself to avoid even thinking about shopping for more stones...until i get this one.
HAD on hold.
...well i am thinking about trying naguras with the ZG for a base stone.Last edited by WadePatton; 02-02-2014 at 08:12 PM.

Wade, I've done just that. I took one off the 1K Chosera to the Zulu with a creamy coticule slurry & two dilutions for the intermediate work and then to tsushima slurry (maksim rated that one at 6-8K equivalent, seems very fine after breakdown) for the finish work. From there I worked a misty Zulu slurry and then to soap (a drop of dish detergent on the wet stone plus a spritz of water) for the final finish. I suppose in jnat lingo that would be stopping at the prepolisher stage. It produced a very keen edge yet mellow edge.
I haven't continued the experiment since all my razors are at the maintenance touch up stage now. I suppose that means that I should buy another razor to have something to hone (!) or take something back to the 5K-ish area just to give me an excuse. I used to have a honing disorder but I'm feeling much better now.
rs,

For the other guys waiting for their very own little piece of Africa, I got notice of shipment today. I expect a week or three now, depending on customs. Also there is tracking included. (early December is when i ordered)
Mike said 16 stones went out in that flight and that there are 4 more batches (of similar number one might assume) to get out.
Suppose i could round up a nagura or two for kicks. Been studying Jnatz whilst i was thinking of what else to get...what a subject.Last edited by WadePatton; 02-08-2014 at 10:47 PM.

Received my 8x3 about a week ago. I have nothing but good things to say. It adds a nice keen edge. Been starting with a milky slurry and diluting down t water only. After a little experimentation I am now doing 4 laps of .5 micron diamond on felt and 90 plain leather and loving the shave! Thanks for a great product Michael!
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
