over by the henways of course.

Well I got a big enough smooth spot to slap steel to it, a sample from across the county about 10 miles.

The blade has a fresh bevel "in the making" (had failed shave test, but would shave) so what's to lose methinks. A few light circles on each side, quick strop, and wow--i didn't kill the edge! May have helped it just a little bit.

So I got cocky and tried the trans Arkie...

Yeah, that killed the edge. And as the label on the Arkie proclaims "the best in the world", and my rock beat it...I reckon my rock is pretty good.

(much more testing to come...after I knock another mm or two off the top of the shale.)

You're just getting to the fun part now. Remember that when it comes to the performance of a natural, lapping is everything. Even a good rock with a very coarse lap will cut more coarsely than it's potential

**Sedimentary > Clastic > Mudstone > Shale > Black-shale (carbonaceous) to be more specific.
