Oddly enough looks like it will make a redish brown powder from what sanding ive done on it already(scuffed it on the sidewalk outside the barber shop to flatten the back side haha) seems odd considering how black the stone Is.....

Thanked: 4828Most of the rocks I bring home are a generic grey or grey brown. After they are cut and lapped most of them are some kind of a green hue. There is also some of them with spots or multi colors of green, but they all looked gray in the woods.

Thanked: 4828Mine usually wind up as a rough rectangle. It's all the lapping that really takes the time. That is looking good. Not very reddish brown in that picture though.

Thanked: 4828rock is funny stuff sometimes. I had a very dark green one that had the prettiest pale blue slurry. I was just a rock though, it didn't cut or polish, it was just a pretty rock. LOL Looks like you are close to putting some steel to it.

I have some interesting shale I picked up in a road cut in the black hills . No pictures as it is buried under the snow in the yard at the moment. I may not be able to find the place again as I was just wandering the back roads.
My wife has got mad at me for hitting the shoulder as I am looking at road cuts as I am driving. [I am just making this up insurance company.]
