    I still can't believe my luck, I've just received a fantastic specimen of a coticule - a huge 25,5 x 6,2 x 2,8 cm (10 x 2.5 x 1.1 inch) vintage coticule/BBW combination stone (1.3 kg heavy!):

    Here in comparison to my 22,5 x 5 cm (9 x 2") Escher and a 17,5 x 4 cm (7 x 1,6") coticule/BBW natural combination stone:

And here with a almost 7/8" (21mm) Sheffield razor for comparison (looks a bit lost on the huge hone ):

The coticule side is perfect , i.e. no cracks, blemishes or discolorations. I can't wait to see how it performs but I guess it will lead to an early retirement of my other coticules ...

    Cheers

    Outstanding! Great stone, congrats!

that's just a ridiculesly big coticule, men... I think I have 4 coticules whom would fit easily in your single stone...

I think I have one of those italian/french coti lookalikes on its way towards me at the moment, I'm curious as to how it preforms but even more so on the origen of these hones in general. I'll post more pictures once I have the hone and cleaned it up a bit

Iam quite sure its a Coticule...if you check the auctions pic on thr pictures 2&4 you can see the back side. It shows some hue of violet/blue which i think is some remaining Part of Belgium Blue...could be wrong but the coloration looks too pale beige for me....

Ok, wel, I don't mind having another coticule so that would be ok. on the backsite I considered this to be dirt of some kind. As for the color tone, I don't realy know how they should look but the pictures on the bay look like they have been made indoor using artificial lighting, I'll put it next to my own coti's in daylight when I have it

I just love the fact that you knew right away which listing on the bay this was

I have rock envy [emoji2]. A nice coticule sold on the bay last night for $355. Too much for me. I guess I will have to stick to my one and only for now.
    Have a great day!

There seems to be people that will buy stones for any price asked today... Almost a mania to horde them. I like to try different stones myself, but I've tried enough that I don't believe that the "magic" stone is out there anymore. I believe that I own, as good as it gets, in each category.
Some buy patterns, and that's OK, but in my book, "beauty is as beauty does..." and I do not feel the need to horde just to post pictures fo all to "oooooh and aaaaah..."
    Badgister and Marshal like this.
