Some people have a utilitarian approach to hones and honing, others have transformed it into a fetish; background music, incense, candles and all.

Some buy patterns, and that's OK, but in my book, "beauty is as beauty does..." and I do not feel the need to horde just to post pictures fo all to "oooooh and aaaaah..."

Well, I'm not sure whether any of this is directed at me ...

My motto is "live and let live" - if I don't like what is shown I just don't look and don't comment ... But each to their own .

Me, I'd love a whole bookcase full of hones and nothing to do for 3 months but to play with steel on stones.

But due to self-imposed financial limits, time limits based on work, handball, cooking and cleaning. My stones in general are limited and I don't use the 4 stones I have as much as I would like.

However, I love looking at people's stones and their experiences as well as knowledge. At least their going to be used or cared for. Then if someone on here decides to unload their collection or will it to the classifieds, it'll go to someone who will use it and cherish it.

There are also people who find enjoyment in crack, competitively eating, going incredibly fast in circles, as well as sitting in a chair for 18 hours a day for four days playing D&D. To each, his own, gentlemen.

Please believe that my comments were not meant to be insulting, and definitely not directed at anyone here!

I'm very sorry if my comments were misconstrued... You're absolutely right ... Each to their own.

My comment wasn't meant to insult you, just an observation. I am not without sin to be able to cast stones.

It's all settled then - thanks gentlemen .

I'm aware that it's a somewhat peculiar hobby, but even my wife agrees that it's better than young women or fast cars ... And I feel that we have an environment here, where I can share it with other enthusiasts.

    Cheers

Not a peculiar hobby at all. And, I love seeing everyone's stones!

You're wife is exactly right, also!! I'm too old for both, but I'd still give a fast car a workout if I could pry myself into one!

Besides with stones, they get skinnier when they get older and won't rust to dust!
