Usually three pieces of tape and the 16K shapton. If it's a razor made with harder steel I make five laps on the 30K shapton.

I really want a gokumyo 20k, but the price tag has me waiting. I usually go to my shuobudani type 100 I bought from maksim at jns. Recently I've been using an escher slurry stone on said jnat and the edges are very good. I just purchased and imperial la roccia 12-15k and I'm still testing it. The feedback is great, the blade really sticks to the stone, just waiting on my beard to grow so I can shave with the razor I honed on it. It sucks having so many razors and so many hones with not enough beard to shave!
