Thanked: 481I think a lot of the mixed reviews stems from there being 2 types of PHIG, with w very different techniques used to get a good edge off the rock. They're not like a synthetic, or even a really homogenous type of stone like a Translucent/Black Arkansas that's 99% silica. It's a sedimentary rock and you've really got to put in your time to learn your rock. It's not just a lap flat with a DMT and go affair.
Read through that thread gssixgun linked and you'll see what I mean. I think he covers just about every facet of these rocks in that thread. Good info, and a big help to anyone trying to squeeze the best edge they can out of these.
Edit: what is an ILR?

Thanked: 3795The vendor for the "Imperia La Roccia" is not even forthcoming about the provenance of that rock, so take the grit rating with bit of skepticism.

Thanked: 4Since you have the hones that I have, please let me know if you get a better edge going from a 10K up to a 15K, assuming you go that route.
