Thanked: 246Finished another new edge tonight, this time I went to 5k synth and a little thicker Tomo slurry. I checked the edge as I went until I was satisfied with it - probably did somewhere around 100 laps I'd guess. I added a single drop of water a few separate times as the slurry dried up a bit. I finished up on a slurry a bit thicker than the "skim milk" often talked about by guys here. The edge looked very nice under a 10x loupe, didn't scope this one.
I went ahead and stropped and shaved and actually had a better shave than last time. I still wouldn't call it equal to my best Thuri or Ark edges in comfort - it's a little more "crisp" - but it was very keen and pretty darn good comfort-wise.

Thanked: 55I tried to use the wording from his Ebay site but thanks for this reminder. I just sent him an email making sure that what we are talking about are the ones he has listed as "12k" and "15k".
He seems to be easy to work with as he has already agreed to sell me the "15k" for $10 and will ship it with the first one that I just bought ("12k") on Ebay for $13 including shipping.Last edited by gcbryan; 02-24-2017 at 01:12 AM.

Thanked: 55Just a follow-up. I got the two finer grit AJ Welsh stones. I prefer the Ocean Blue to both of them. The higher grit grey hone is a little better than the purple one (and probably the only one I'd use as a finisher). Both are a little rough feeling as far as honing feedback and shaving.
I'll play around with them more but the OB is what I'm stick with I'm sure. Maybe I test out the OB with and without paste as well.

Thanked: 55I more or less used them as they came. They were smooth and flat to the touch. I did run them over a little w/d sandpaper but not for long. They just feel grittier when honing than my others.
I'm play with them some more. I just found the OB to be better by comparison.

Wondering if anyone has an update on their opinions on this stone. Mines not here yet but will be able to play with it this weekend.
