Thanked: 5There are more divergent opinions of this stone on this thread than I’ve ever read before. Sometimes the topic of hones is at least as interesting if not more so, than our razors themselves. I bough two if these, and while my patience at honing is not adequate to give a worthwhile opinion of it in comparison to all my others, I still like it. I hope it’s not a fugazi, but I think if we collect enough stones, it’s inevitable to have that happen at least once. I’ll probably give the extra one to my son.

Thanked: 292I am the one who started this thread. When I first got it, I considered it to be a great stone as it was better than anything else I had at the time. It certainly produces a better edge than a Naniwa 12K: not necessarily sharper, but smoother.
I have since obtained several other stones. Some I like better than the TOB and some I like less. Unless you have a very coarse beard and very sensitive skin like I do, a good TOB is likely to produce a suitable edge. I can still use the Tsushima as a finisher as long as I follow it up with pasted strops.
