    Any input on the Silkvein?

Thanks for the heads up, on the sale.
Been looking at one of these Zulu's for a while. And at 50% off, I decided to pull the trigger.
Now the waiting game. Will post up my experiences with this stone. Should be fun.

I wish I hadn't found this thread...it's not that I want one, but I might in the future and this seems like a really good deal. I probably won't touch the stone for months (year +?), too much else to learn first. But still... This forum is a blessing and a curse

In my case, I'm very grateful to all the contributors for saving me a couple of bucks: I, personally, do not like to hone - for me it's a necessary evil only, so prolonging this questionable experience by buying a slow stone - is not an option!

Yep, I fell in the hole. Got a silkvein on the way. It's still a ways off in my learning curve, but I felt like I'd later regret not getting one at that price.

Pulled the trigger myself - too hard to pass up that sale. I’ve got a timbertools “Thuringian” I bought several years ago but never really liked the edges I got off it. I ordered a small one from timbertools but they sent me the big one so I kind of feel like I didn’t get totally ripped off.

Looking forward to the Zulu Grey - thanks for the sale tip!

The Silk Vein I have is very soft so it does self slurry very easily. I use mine for kitchen knives and it work well. I have never put a razor on it.

Has anyone heard from this guy about the ZGs they ordered in this sale? I just emailed him asking for an update since it's now been over 3 months, and my email bounced back.

No, I emailed him at his zulugrey.com address. But I'll try the contact form, as well.
