Thanked: 174Zulu Grey sale - how good are they?
Got a great promo on Zulu Grey stones: 50% off plus free narrow hone plus free slurry stone. Coupon code: JOLLY50.
How good are these stones? Are they coming after 12K in progression? Any good for touch-ups? How are they relatively to J-Nats?
Thanks ahead for answering!

They are only as good as the hand that hones. That is as simple as I can explain any stone. What do you use now? It is a fairly smooth stone and hard, it’s a finisher can’t give a grit because it’s a natural. Mine can smooth out a 12k Nani was but the 12k don’t really need it, I have gone straight from an 8k to the Zulu also. Takes lots of strokes. I honestly believe all of the proven finishers are capable of giving great edges, it’s in the hands of the guy who uses it. You got a couple guys here who could hone on a brick with good results.
Mine gives every bit as good an edge as any Japanese naturals or thurigians“ I,m getting the impression that everyone thinks I have TIME to fix their bikes”

I bought mine because of TC.
And I agree with him on every point. Don't think you're going to work up a slurry on that stone! OK, You could, but it will take you 5+ minutes to get anything. Its a nice, Different Finisher and you are going to be doing hundreds of laps on it. Its a nice stone to have in a collection of finishers. 50% off at the price I paid for my 3x8x1 stone would be a damn cheap price and I'd buy one. Don't know what they are selling for now as I didn't look at the link.
Its only a Finisher! you could use it to touch up an edge that is in the first stages of loosing its keen, and as TC said, after 8K+. Other than that....It's just Sharpening, right?

I slurry my Zulu with a 325DMT. Some may balk at that but it works for me.I

With a 325 DMT it will raise a slurry. But if you try to slurry with the matching slurry stone...

I keep looking at the website-so far holding steady.
There are many roads to sharp.

Thanked: 4827It is jars to slurry with the slurry stone and the more water you use the harder it is to raise the slurry. A couple of drips and slurry a bit then a couple of drips. Or go straight to the 325 DMT card and stop messing around. It seems to produce the same edge. Mine is slow, requiring a lot of laps but it produces a great shave. I am not unhappy that I bought mine, and I paid full price for it.

Thanked: 1081How would you describe the edge it gives? Im thinking that it would be more crisp than mellow.
