I get smoking smooth edges off of that Zulu, like glen said some guys proclaimed them bad, yet in the hands of another the same stone was very good. It’s always in the hands of the user what can be achieved, Glen can get a razor shaving like a laser with a brick on the side of his house

Thanked: 90If someone really wants one I would put up a wanted add as it sounds like no one has got one in at least six months to eight months. Maybe one of these people who didn't think they were so great has one lying around .

I have been fortunate that this stone really works for me and Ive been happy with it for many years. I use it off a shapton 12k mostly and sometimes off the 16k glass stone (which i dont use too often).
I am sorry to see things are not going well for recent customers and i hope it gets sorted for all of you soon.

All the talk about the Zulu lately pushed me to pull mine out and revisit it. I took a razor I bought from Ali blades a few months back as the specimen.
I tried to shave with the razor when I received it, but was left unhappy with the edge and tossed it in a draw. I started from the speculation that I wanted to control the whole process and put the blade to my 1000 grit chosera to give it a fresh bevel.
That now established , went to the norton 4000 and then the 8000. Edge looked and felt shave ready at this point. Instead of going with my usual next step, Jnat progression, I went to the Zulu.
Started with a bit of slurry that I got out with a DMT card and went to work. 50 passes diluting as I went on and then 50 passes on just the wet stone. Under the loupe the edge looked to be where I would call it at it's ultimate stage.
Went to the bathroom for a shave of 4 day growth and was treated to a great shave. Smooth and as comfortable as any I ever had.
This gave me renewed love for a beautiful razor that I was not using and renewed respect for the Zulu that I had forgotten about. It's reminded me that I stopped using the Zulu when my intrigue for the Jnats started a few years back and not for it's results. I was always happy with the Zulu(maybe I got a "good" one) and stopped using it only because I had so may other options.
I not going to say that I'm restating the Zulu my go to finisher because I love the versatility of my Jnats so much, but it's nice to remember I have a good finisher ready for deployment.Having Fun Shaving
