Thanked: 17So what grit is this thing? Ive seen in this thread >coticule at the beggining, to 8k, then holi4 says 6kish and now 8kish. The majority says finisher, but holli you disagree. Its things like this that makes info hard to collect. Even on the wiki its only the opinion of whom enters the info, but others can have very different outcomes. I am in no way trying to call anyone out on this or give grief, just get the facts straight before I buy one.

I lolled. This is the big argument about everything. They're natural rocks so even if all of them are 8k you can get a dud or even if all of them are 4k you could get a miracle 30k.

I can't tell you what grit it is, but if you look at my BBW vs DT hone comparison, you'll see I did lots of laps with slurry, diluted, and with just water. I don't think the DT had anything more to give. The shave was about the same as a BBW. People say the BBW is about 6-8k, so I'd say the DT is about the same.
"Finisher" is subjective. You can shave off an 8k hone, so an 8k hone could be your "finisher," but most people probably wouldn't call an 8k a "finisher."
If you really want to know, you should buy one. DT's are cheap: Inigo Jones - Welsh Slate Craft Tours and Online Store

Did you look at the price? That's maybe $20 shipped.

I think its $33 shipped- the 20.00 is in pounds.

Is shipping really that expensive?
Price: £6.95
Dollars: 11.26
Euros: 7.37
Wow, it is - that's nuts. Never mind.

Yep. If you switch between things the 6.95 stays constant and the shipping number changes. Therefore all prices are in pounds.
Add it to the basket and see- $33!

When you order three or more stones at once you can ask for a discount. I once bought three and only paid shipping for two. So a group order should lower the expensive shipping costs to the US.
