Just some pics for those interested;
Smaller stone is vintage slate 'Everkeen' oilstone, Larger is 8x3x1" DT
DT lapped (1200grit) surface
DT un-lapped surface as arrived from Inigo Jones, looks a bit like 100grit paper
Lapped surface macro
Wet lapped surface, apologies for the amount of reflection!
Wet vs Everkeen dry to see colour change
Hope this is of use to someone!
Cheers

Sorry it's taken me so long, but after much practice ( I'm a newbe at honing) here's what I done I ordered a 3 inch by 1 inch by 8inch long stone and a slurry stone. Total cost delivered £25 I lapped the unlapped side with 3 sanding blocks 240, 600 & 1200 grit with water it ended up just as smooth as my 12k J nat. I tried water and different slurries with results that were not usable shaving wise. So I tried oil medium slurry on the original side that I call the cutting side did about 40 circles each way ( I saw that on lynes vids) then I did 10 laps with slightly lighter slurry. Then I wiped it down flipped it over to the side I lapped ( i call it the polishing side) use oil with a light slurry did about 40 laps. The oil I used was mineral oil( baby oil ) the result was ,shocking, for me any way after so long struggling to get a shavable edge I wasn't holding much hope, the blade is a wolmer best special about 1946 5/8 Sheffield made and ground. bought it of eBay for £2.10 scales were broke so I made new from black acrylic, I digress. Any hoo I just had a shower took the Wolmer and I had smooth comfortable shave, so I think the DT works best with oil and if you call indigo jones or e- mail them,they will make you a hone any size and thickness you want my double sided DT works well. it's been a good experiment. Cheers

Sounds like a really interesting proposition. Especially for someone on a budget? I only have a 1000/6000 King combo and my trusty WOA. If the DT weighed in at around 8000k I would be very tempted.
Oscar.
