Do you have a small grey one like the one I posted or one or the big muller ones with the slurry stone (they're almost black)? I don't like the big black one that much, this little grey one feels totally different, is has a smooth creamy glass feel to it.

What other finishers do you use?

yes saahm has gave me some good advice. I#m trying differant ways to finish with escher. i have just found water to be slightly smoother for some reason. I just finished five laps dry and boy does the bevel shine

I have been doing something similar where I finish on water for about 20 laps or so and then I spray more water on the hone. At that point I just hone until the water dries out and I get this milky watery slime stuff on the hone that the razor cuts. It's pretty cool and good shaves also!

The stone is about 200 mm in 50mm with a slurry stone.
I also have an Arkansas oil stone (which is slow but gives a good
    edge)
I'm still saving up for a nice Coticule

That's the larger one I was talking about. It works well but I think it's a lower grit than the Old Thuringians because it doesn't even come close to the edges the old ones get. I don't like it that much, I just play with it when I am feeling experimental. The one I posted in my original post is very small and fits in my hand (see picture). It works a lot better than the dark large one that seems to be from a different company altogether.

Ask Bart at coticule.be when looking for a coticule, he can help you out a lot. Shoot him a PM.

So yesterday, as mentioned, I took my Gotta Hamburg Ring 120 and finished it on the small Thuri from my original post. I used only water and honed on the stone until the water dried up and the hone was dry. The edge was very nice and I had an amazing shave.

Tonight I finished up a Dubl Duck Special No.1 on the little Thuri with a creamy slurry (Created by a DMT 325) and honed on that until the slurry dried up. I then continued to do some laps on the hone with the dried slurry for about 20 laps or so. The edge is now so shiny in the light its blinding, the bevel is way shinier than the razor I honed last night. Has anyone ever tried this on an Escher or Thuri before? Slurry until the slurry dries and then hone more on that? I think someone mentioned they do this on Japanese Nakayama stones (may have been another website...not sure).

I've not used dry slurry. There may be a little left that the razor created in the run up, but I don't purpose make a slurry.
It does leave the bevel with a beautiful shine though, doesn't it!

I will shave with it tonight and post the results (I've been shaving mid-late day now, I like it). The dubl duck shaves my arm and leg hair without even making a sound or a pop, the hairs just fall into the air without any audible clue that it's happening.

I too, have bought one of these small hones.
So far it's been a nice surprise. It's great little finisher, very handy with smiley blades.
But I only used it under a thin stream of water. I'll have to try to use it dry as you suggest.
    Good work my friend!
