    Default Nice Stone

    Nice stone!
Do you hold it like a barbers hone when you use it for better control?

I would want a piece of leather in my hand just in case a finger got in the way.

I picked one up of these MST Thuringians from B&B. The link was here. I haven't used it yet.

Well I just shaved off the little Thuringian stone and it was very nice. I will be keeping this little guy!

Yep that's them! Give it a shot its a nice little hone. I made quite a few laps and then let it dry out for the final laps, it builds a natural hazy slime to it with water after some laps. I use it after my norton 8k side and skipped the naniwa 12k.

This is my escher similar colour. i have found so far my edge is smoother with water . milky slurry finishing seems a little more crispy for me. I still need to try more as i have only owned the escher 2 weeks

Nice stone Gary. Enjoy the edges you get from it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

That's an awesome Escher, Gary, nice! I am trying to get one right now for cheap, to please the HAD! I would ask Sham about finishing with the Escher he knows about them more than anyone else I can think of. I believe he always uses Slurry stones to build up lather on the hone. The amount of strokes he uses I am not sure about. I know he likes to use a lot of time on final edges (you can watch his honing videos where he has like 8 Eschers lying on a table with a zillion other hones all spread out, it's awesome).
