Thanks! So far this stone is light years beyond the big dark colored Thuringians for sale. It seems very shave ready of the slurry- dried slurry method, but only shaving can tell how keen the edge would be. I didn't rinse the hone after use, so there's a thick white slurry on it, pretty cool!

What I would really like to do is make a thread based on the different type of Thuringians out there and compared the finishes they give after the Norton 8K. Right now I have an old Thuringian in a wooden case on the way, so that will make three of them to use. I may be getting an Escher soon also. I just wish I had good equipment to show pictures of the edges, but only words are available at this point in time.

When I began honing and using slurry on naturals I would make sure to throughly rinse off the hones and slurry stones at the end of the session. Then Utopian posted that he would leave the slurry on the hones/slurry stones for the next session and it was like DUH ! I was letting all of that good slurry go down the drain. I haven't washed any away since.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I shaved off the dried slurry edge I honed the dubl duck on, it seemed to pull a little, not much though.
Yesterday I received a vintage thuri in the mail with the wooden box and label. Sham told me its the same as an escher! Yes!
