The razors were mailed to Pabster earlier this week so should be with him soon!

Magpie had to drop out due to work commitments so after Pabster they'll be on to Ianp1966.

A quick update. Pabster has recieved and shaved with the razors and his results are in the poll.

In order of preference he liked #2, #3 and #1 the least.

    For the stones he called:

    #1= CF
    #2= Coticule
    #3= Maruichi

The razors are on their way to IanP1966 so more to follow!

Well i've just finished my total head shave and can say that #3 was the smoothest for me with #1 and #2 having no discernible difference.

I would like to thank Stu for setting his up and letting us all share these lovely razors

So are you going to reveal what stones were used with which razor or what?

Cool experiment. Not just the experiment its self but the trust we members have to ship these razors back and forth and feeling good knowing they will get back to you in the same if not better condition you shipped them.

    So... The big moment!

The experiment has come to an end, we've had some great thoughts, great feedback and its been really interesting for me to hear what you all thought.

The razors were honed as follows:

    #1 - Nakayama Maruichi
    #2 - Charnley Forest
    #3 - Coticule

Adding in Shams vote for razor three, and taking out Jimbo and Walto's (as they didnt shave with the razors) the results are as follows.

    #1 - 3 votes
    #2 - 2 votes
    #3 - 2 votes

So what does this tell us? J-Nats are better of course!

    Kidding, kidding...

We've actually had pretty much even voting across all three razors, so I guess what that really tells me is that all three of these stones are great finishers and theres nothing really between them.

If the J-Nat or CF had walked off with all the votes then maybe it would be easy to argue that stone was the best. But for the fact that we had an odd number of participants we could have ended up with 2 votes on each stone!

So the moral of the story? Get your natural finisher, whatever it is, and learn how to get the best out of it. They're all good and the Coti/CF/Escher/insert-stone-here isnt better or worse than any of the other stones. Price does not equal good finish, all it means is that its a more expensive stone due to other factors such a rarity.

Thanks again to all who took part and watch this space for the next bit of fun!

My favourite is the Maruichi (#1), I just really like the edges off that stone.

As to the runners up its hard to say..! I love the coticule edge as it gives a very smooth edge whereas the CF puts an insanely sharp but harsher edge on the razor. I might try and use a slurry on the CF to soften the edges slightly and see how that changes things!

Wait, Sham liked the coticule edge?! That's not supposed to happen!

This was great to follow, thanks again. Next time, let me know about these things lol.
