OK, here are two of my Jnats. Nakayama Asagi on the left, and what I *think* is an Oozuku suita on the right. So Yamashita identified it from a photo of the stamps when I first bought it, although he did say that to accurately identify it he would have to physically examine it (which we never did), because stamps can be faked. The stamps have since been lapped off.

I bought the asagi from So. It is a wonderful stone, very hard but very smooth with a velvety feel under the razor. Works well with or without slurry, and I generally use it without slurry after the shapton 16K as a final polisher. Sometimes I also use it with slurry straight after the various Narutakis I have - it is a fairly fast cutter with slurry. As time has passed the surface has started to show what I think is some renge - patches of red dots of varying intensity and concentration. But maybe not - they show up better when the stone is wet. In any event, it is an excellent stone which is a pleasure to use.

Until very recently the Oozuku (I'm just going to assume that's what the second stone is) has just sat on the shelf - after the first lapping it developed the scratchy pockets which I have heard called "toxic su" on the surface. After lots of lapping, I recently got it to a point where I can run a razor over it safely and smoothly. It is also a reasonably hard stone, probably as hard as the asagi, or perhaps a little softer. I still have a lot of playing around to do with it, but at this stage it seems to fit in somewhere between the Escher and the asagi in terms of the fineness of the edge produced. I have only used this one with slurry produced using the diamond plate, diluting as I go.

I bought the Oozuku from a shop here in Brisbane - it looked different from the other stones they sold, which is why I got it. They knew nothing about the stones other than that the previous shop owner had gone to Japan and brought back with him a load of naturals. From the look, most were Narutakis but this one jumped out at me. At the time I thought I had wasted my $60, but now I think I might have got a bargain.

Got my new Oozuku Assagi in yesterday as well. Had a chance to play with it (after lapping) on a Case Temperite. Shaved with it this morning and I am quite pleased with the results.

No camera as of right now but I have a pic Max had on his website.

Might I add; Max was a true gentleman to work with always answering any questions I had.

i coud'nt resist. i got a large ozuku kiita karusu, from maximin. i would like to say thank you to him for his service, which is realy second to none A1.

i've used the stone with slurry to water for finishing etc. after a shave ready coticule edge. I can onestly admit the j nat has given me a ultra smooth but by god very sharp edge, it was so easy. i found the j nat to work like coticule with slurry to water. my first shave i shave d of milky slurry, it was rough. due to to much slurry. i quikly relized this and diluted to water. i'm a coticule lover and i love the edges of coticule, but i have say this j nat gives me a veryvery sharp, but still very smooth edge indeed.
