Thanked: 51As I read the reviews of these stones, I grow more and more impatient waiting for my set to arrive.

Thanked: 1371I got the second Welsh slate today. This one looks quite a bit different than the other.
The first one has an erratic stripe pattern on the surface. This one is flat gray.
I didn't spend a whole lot of time with it, just used it to finish one razor after the 8k, and looked under the microscope. Shave testing the razors from both stones revealed quite a difference - with the striped one making a better edge.
I need to do some more testing to figure out how to max out both stones and how they compare to others.
Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Thanked: 51I think mine are supposed to be delivered today. Hopefully the mailman will come by after I get home from work, otherwise it'll be tomorrow afternoon before I can go by the post office and pick them up.
Also, for anyone who hasn't figured it out, you can use the Royal Mail tracking number to track on the USPS's website once your stones have made it to the states.

Thanked: 48I have honed now 15 razors with these stones and have had nothing but butter smooth shaves. Just water, just 20 passes on each after the norton 8k. am thinking to swap my norton 4/8 with a arkansas translucent

Thanked: 51Customs is killing me. My stones have been in New York for almost a week and they're still there.

Thanked: 51You're lucky. After doing some reading on the net, it seems that the most likely explanation is that it's already left NY and isn't tracked anymore. Either way, it's becoming glaringly obvious why the post system in the US is going under.

Ordered on 3/2, and had them on 3/7. That was unexpectedly fast.
Haven't had much time to play with them yet. Looking forward to honing a razor or two this weekend with them.

Thanked: 51I'm still waiting.... been almost two weeks since they were shipped and they've been in the US for a week and a half.
