I shall be posting a complete comparison between the WT & LM but I have just used the WT as a finisher straight of a king 6K and am impressed by the edge. Its an ugly razor I'm using but a sweet shaver I know it takes a great edge with naturals and the HHT is as ggod as it gets. The finishing was 40 laps on slurry, 1 dilution and 40 more then 80-100 on just water. Shave test later and will be in the SOTD thread.
    Regards
    Nic

The dark Welsh hone really came through for me tonight.
I have a very extra hollow ground with a tendency to get a wiry/crumbly and flexy edge, I failed with a C12K and also a Trans Ark, the edge was sharp but on really thick patches the edge seemed to flex and not cut. The black Welsh hone seems to develop a really keen edge, with two sets of 30 circles with slurry and 50 laps plain water it now cuts through the thick patches without flexing. I'm sacrificing some smoothness but I can use this razor now. I'm very happy with that stone tonight!!

Switching over to a Solingen razor finally had time to start testing...

Using the Dark Grey WHIG (DT) and slurry then moving to the Purple WHIG (LM) for a finisher, same process as used for the Sheffield steel..

This did not give as good an edge as I got on the last 5 Sheffield razors I honed ..

I judge everything against the Nortons.. and there is no doubt I can get a better edge from a Norton 4/8 on this first test on a Solingen edge.
Will try the same razor with the Greenish WHIG next ...

Are any of them as good or finer than the old yellow lake brand or the Salmen ones? (the classic purplish variety). From what I have heard, they are not, has anyone else made a comparison test?

Well last night I used the WT to touch up the edge of my Dovo Prima Silver steel. I tried that one with GT85 (a light oil with PTFE) and it worked a dream.

My shave today was the 1st since Monday night and the bristles just fell away. This has always been one of my best shavers and the edge the WT gave with oil was superb.

Moved over to the Greenish WHIG and the same Solingen blade, first test was a little too good when compared to the Purple WHIG which I attribute to using a really good Uberlather..

Yesterday same edge with a simple soap lather made on the face, again gave me a smoother shave then the Purple WHIG on the Solingen blade..

    Still more testing I believe

Yep I was following that too Nic.. I am going to mess with it a bit more and maybe switch to another harder steel edge.. They both seem to work great on the Sheffield steel..

I might try a NY steel American edge on the next series and see what happens there too they are notoriously hard steel.. I also would like to see what one of the newer TI's feels like one them both
