Thanks Martin.
Well i have bought a few Stones in the past from same seller and he Always laps them before shipping. This is the first time i have heard tim complain about its hardness and time it took to lap.
Adrspach and Neil, what Do you Think?

I have seen alot of stone cann't draw a opnion of what that is.
Sometimes we just have to be happy with knowing it makes a razor shave nice.

Thanked: 3164IN your post (#83) the close-up looks like an LI to me. I have seen similar patterns before on hones - I'm sure there was one posted on Olivia's forum (perhaps Piet will remember) - I think tat2ralfy got it at a bootsale?
Anyhow, that mark looks very light - any chance that you have the lid of the box? Maybe it once lived in another box, though. It looks almost as if it has laid on some worn wooden object (or box lid, or box bottom) made from softwood, so that the hard wood pattern was exposed by the softer wood shrinking back. Perhaps it is some sort of contact transference like that? In the lower left part of the pic is a darker line that looks like it is scored into the hone - where it passes through some of the light-coloured patterning, the pattern fades or is lost altogether.
Regards,
Neil
