Surely you can't be serious?

Thanked: 0I don't know anything about those stones but I do know what happens when a stone with trapped moisture gets heated quick. And most stones don't store much so it won't even take a minute to get the water super hot.. But I also agree if u plan to actually do it set up the camera and clear the room of animals and small children.

I have 2 norton single grit stones, a 4k and an 8k. The 8k does not require soaking and the 4k does. I keep the 4k in one of those rubbermaid sealed containers with just enough water to cover the stone and keep it soaked all of the time. Every time I take it out to hone I change the water. I've never had an issue with algae or mold because the container is airtight. No issues with the stone degrading from the continued soaking either.
For my 8k or any of my other stones, when I'm done honing I rinse them and put them in the dish drainer on the kitchen counter. When the visible water is evaporated I place them back in their spot in the cabinet. So far so good. No harm in the stones being wet, unless, like the chosera, the manufacturer specifies a limited time in soaking. That is my take anyway.

Yes, please take a video, it should be interesting to see what will happen as the water trapped in the stone matrix suddenly expands in volume by about 1000x as it turns into steam. Please do it outdoors, evacuate the immediate area, and be sure to wear a Kevlar vest, helmet, and face shield. Or.....dry the stone at warm room temperature on a rack. If the courser grit more porous stones are put away damp in their boxes, they will grow mold and become stained.

I have a microwave to donate, who has the spare stone?
And if that don't get the microwave we will learn something and finish the microwave off with Tanerite.....
