Well yes the dmt would but it would allow you to use after a 1k thru finish. Water only ime can lead to harsh edge although not all stones. The slurry breaks down into finer and finer. Its a process and learning curve. I think naguras produce a better edge with a good tomo. But ymmv and your stone has to be figured out.

After my initial visit with Bill and then everytime I see him I say Bill bring the suehiro..the edge is fantastic it leaves IMO.. So I broke down and guess what I bought one ... Now Bill has the 10k and 15k..can u guess what that means... The suehiro is very easy IMO to use and like I said produces that jnat feel somewhat.. I use it right now after my 12 k Naniwa

I hear ya, but the stone IS all that. I have the 15 and 20k and just ordered the 10 k as well. These stones have a very nice hard feel to them and deliver great EASY edges IMO. The only downside IMO is the $.

10 strokes on a naniwa 12k. Doesn't get any easier. Will rival any edge I've ever tried. Of course you gotta have that blade right before you can do that.

Your best shave ever was off a naniwa 12k?

At least one, and a 15k suehiro, and quite a few Jnats. Im sure there will be other hones as well. Its recommended that you bring your hones so you can get some tips on what you have. Lapped and ready to go would be great.
