Thread: Tweaking the Edge with Tape
-

As Rodney King once said; "Can't we all just get along?"
I tried this method today on three razors that needed honing but did not have "issues" (chips etc.)
And Brothers I say to you...
If this be Heresy - then thou shalt go out and gather wood and stout stakes...
For one of us of both modest experience and basic collection of stones (Norton 4/8, Nan 12K, Crox Balsa)
Hath brought unto his razors a most wonderful & joyous edge, with results like those of the great Masters of the Stone...
I pray that we may let each other Not Tape or Tape or even Tape yet again in peace..
And that we remember the wisdom of: "YMMV" and "It is your Face & Razor my Brother"
For I do not wish to be led to pyre...

Thanked: 10If we avoid sharing our ideas to avoid negativity, then we will avoid sharing our ideas. With that in mind, whatever I just said, sometimes I will add a layer of tape and do 100 laps on a very high grade glossy catalog cover. It has to be (IMHO) high grade clay color glossy. I don't know what grit or micron size the clay is. I wish I did. Anyway, it takes a 10/10 HHT to +11/10 HHT. I know HHTs are subjective and controversial. I'm not suggesting anybody else do this, or that it will give you a better shave. I'm just sticking my neck waaay out and adding one more OCD step to the mix. I always admired Rube Goldberg.

Thanked: 3164Hath thee not heard tell of the land beyond the shiny steel, where the hirsute beardy-weirdy gentle souls live in perfectt harmony and hairyness and all false prophets of the church of steel are banished? Yea, banished to a vale of sorrow, weeping and great gnashing of teeth and forever condemned to hone their sharp and glinting instruments of division in a never ending quest for the perfect edge...?
I had a dream, brothers, I had a dream...

Ah, Brother Neil, you are back from your quest in the Land of the Ingrown Hirsute. How did your quest for the Holy Scuttle go? Is it truly a myth, or may we continue our hopes and dreams that it will surface and s(h)ave us? The Council of Anointed Ones await a full report on the activities of the hairy purveyors of the mock razors.

Oh Please I beg, not another quest to master while I still labor to learn the level that I am on.
I had just now begun to be calmed and sustained by the hiss of steel against stone...
Just as mastering the blade against leather and fine cloth led me to the path of clearing the stubble of my face..
Rendering it as smooth as skin of the neither regions of the youngest of the tribe.
And bringing brightness and joy to my day.
I will gladly let the beardy-weirdy live in their harmony and joy..
I humbly ask that I be allowed to stay in the land of Steel and Stone...
For all of our differences we are one at the razors edge, when the steel in our hands touches the the skin of our throats...
How much closer together could we be at that moment - and no matter how we differ, we all wish upon each other perfection at that moment...
This is were we all get along..
