Thanked: 458One more video. I suspect that these stones don't care much which direction the razor is rubbed on them, so I honed another what looks like NOS japanese razor and checked to see if that's true.
Some of the japanese razors are a bit hard (this one is) and at the limits of these stones, given the particles in ark stones and silica based sedimentary stones are similar in hardness to hardened steel on the mohs scale.
You can't see the hairs in the HHT, but I redid the HHT and linked the video.
So, as far as mysticism goes, I guess the learning curve with these stones is higher than synthetics, but once they're prepped, you can get away with a lot on them. There's nothing mystical about my ham handing in this video.
