No mystery here. You have simply used more pressure on earlier stones.
As you progress to polish, the shoulder of the bevel gets less cut.

That makes sense . Even though I use no pressure on any of the hones, I do make a conscious effort to use zero pressure on the Escher..
    Many thanks

A found some stones in the wild yesterday, amongst other things.
I thought I had three Coticules, but after cleaning and lapping I'm only positive about two of them now. It acted the same as the others two when lapping, and feels the same to the touch. So my question is, after looking at countless pics of different Coties, what the H@## do I have.!? (Bottom stone)

So what's your thoughts, I greatly appreciate your opinions and help.
That is definitely a coticule, seems to be glued to a blue stone.

Honed these today. The Imperial was having a chippy issue. Took it to the 4k to set bevel slowly. Very gentle and many laps and i finally got past the chips on the heal.

The T.T.C. Clean Shave had a chip at the toe. Prabably from closing as it wouldnt close centered. No big issue. Went to 1k thru 12k and all is good.

Will give a test shave tonight but i feel pretty good about them both.Name: 20170531_121729.jpg

Happy to hear that those chips went away and I'm looking forward to the shave report on that Imperial.

Thanks Roy. I also took the Boker I worked on and put it on the 12K for a dozen passes just to be sure I hadn't dinged the edge. It looked good but...

The report will be in the morning. Well, Middle of the night for most folks.
Maybe I should have used this instead...

2 out of 3 aint bad.
The Boker just had a touch up and it was grand as it has been.
The Imperial was the winner of the group. Very crisp edge. Will be perfect after a couple shaves and a few hundred stokes on the strop.
The T.T.C. was a no go. It cut whiskers but not as smoothly as it should have. Will need to go back to the 4K and work on the bevel some more I think.
At least Im now getting to know the differences of the stages of sharpness of an edge. If that makes sence. Maybe next week i can get back to the stones. Or in a couple weeks.
