Thanked: 4206I get to enjoy a compressed week, just three days of working, for someone else.

Honed up this CV Heljestrand MK31 wearing ivory. It has Vendredi etched on the spine so I suppose it's Friday from a 7 day set. What I wouldn't give for a full 7 day set of ivory scaled MK31s! But I'll certainly settle for just the one. I honed it on a Nakayama Maruka I just acquired and man I tell you, this razor and stone both are phenomenal. I wish I had a better microscope to take edge photos but take my word for it, it's an awfully pretty edge. I had one super smooth shave.

Halfmann Special 15/16
.... honed on Artaunon Whetstone (special high quartzitic sandstone from the Taunus mountains/ Germany) - from bevel setting through the whole progression to endfinshing. Very sharp and very smooth edge on a fantastic razor!
Wish you all a good upcoming 2016!
Best regards from Germany

Honed this 6/8 near wedge W&B last night. Second time using the Nakayama Maruka Koppa and Asano Naguras. Not sure if was actually a better edge than the MK31 the other day or just the extra weight of the blade, but the shave was absolutely phenomenal. Tonight I'm going to hone one of my John Barber stubtails with this stone and see if I can get an even better edge than I did with the W&B.

The good,The bad,and the ugly.
Last hone of the year, revisited my nemisis razor. Was sharp but I found bad double bevels on my wedge.
I couldnt do that to a toe again if I tried.
The Ugly spine is flat .Bevel mirrors spine. Bevel is set and razor is sharp,
The Good is that this W&B is back in service, something about it I just cant part with it.
Hope to learn more from all of you in 2016.
Thanks for all the tips, terms, mentoring, and loaners.
Finished on Arkansas White & WD40. Was a first for me.Your only as good as your last hone job.

Thanked: 2284Today I honed up 4 blades and finished all on a small Thuringian I got from Hatzicho. Typically, I use a yellow/green Thuringian I also got from him, but today I thought I'd try this Dark blue stone, and it didn't disappoint.

First hone and shave of the new year and hone #3 on the Nakayama Maruka. I've had my gentleman's pair of John Barber stubtails for a little while but have held off on honing them until I got a little more proficient since they have such a funky old grind to them. Well I honed one today on my Nakayama Maruka after setting the bevel on a Chosera 1k and boy it was an absolute treat to hone. Not nearly as daunting as I imagined it would be. The bevel was set in no time and it took a killer edge and the shave was just astoundingly smooth. I plan on honing the other one tomorrow and finish it on a nearly black Thuri and see how the edges compare. The new year is definitely off to a good start.

I dont break this out often.
NOS 6/8ths Droescher 18k. I havent set the bevel its still factory. Chanced it with Nakayama
Bevel pictures are bad because its still factory edge and it images poorly.
Good 2016 to all.Your only as good as your last hone job.
