Decided to refinish my Le Jaguar's edge with an old rock karasu, koma, and a tomo. The koma and tomo are both pretty hard and the old rock karasu is hard too. Took several minutes to raise a slurry with either, but the reward was silent HHT root in or out on this nice old hollow French razor.
Cheers, Steve

Finished one for me too. It's been awhile since I last used my Iwasaki. Featured on SOTD. Raise a slurry with a y/g slurry stone.
X-strokes. I forget the ratio, light circles, 12:7 - 7:3 - 3:1 - 1:1
70 laps on the Deep cut - 30 laps on the Kanayama 70K
SOTD - I am spoiled.

Awesome stone Steve56, I would call that one "A murder of Crows" he,he. Beautiful razors and stone Thaeris, and a shot of....Mmmmm.
Here is an interesting stone from Hatzicho. The Troutstone.
Looks can be deceiving.
Shave test positive.
Performs and behaves more like these. The elder thuringian or Troutstone.

Thanked: 351So.... Bekk, Willisf and I got together for a quick coffee about a week ago as Willisf had to make the trip to Winnipeg, so why not....
Bekk (Danny) brought some stuff I'd given/lent him back as he wasn't using it, including a crusty old Utica 5/8" square point that I had relegated to the junk box as it was very well worn and really not worth any effort to restore.
Danny had practised on that blade and with his recent find of a Cocticule for $10, proceeded to do his best and asked me to test shave it.... just to see where his honing skills are at.
Well...... That coticule edge is every bit as sharp and smooth as anything else I've had the pleasure to shave with, no matter who the honemeister was (Glen, watch out... you've got up and coming competition!). In fact, I don't think I could duplicate that edge on my Coticule, though I have not actually used it in more than 10 years.. perhaps I should re-visit it?!?!?
I'm super stoked and happy that Danny has come so far in such short time. Like all of us, he struggles more with some razors than others..... nothing new there.
As for Willisf, if you guys are wondering where all the really nice vintage razors have gone..... I saw a huge pile of them in his carry case!
I'll post a pic from Danny's thread of his $10 Coticule...... Maybe I'll get a couple of shots in of my hones for this coming week.
Regards
