It went to a good home. Bill, the give-away guy, aka Str8razor, won it. He was calling out the ticket numbers and when he got to the chimes he called out his own number. Not suspicious at all. Nope. No need for a re-count. No point getting the courts involved. As long as Bill calls out my number next year there should be no problem.

HA! Well, I used stainless wire on those. Trying to get something to last longer than fishing line, but the sound was not as good, unfortunately. I am making some with the 'spider wire' fishing line next trip.
The ones next year should ring a bit better!

First chance to spend some more time with the jnat. So same Dorko razor and Narutaki Mizu Asagi. Just slurry using 1200 atoma and then dilute and clear water. Trying to learn the stone and max it out. Got a great edge just annihilating arm hair straight from the stone. Will probably give it a shave or 2 then kill and repeat just to get some more practice on the stone and nagura.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Default The Honing of The Admirals

My proir obligation was cancelled this morning, and there aint much better for filling in spare time then honing a razor.. so after a full week of restoration work i finally got around to putting an edge on The Admirals.

I changed up my usual process a little bit based on an earlier thread. I used one layer of tape and I did my usual 1k 4k 8k 12k progression. Then I did 5 laps on the .5 diamond spray (felt) instead of 20, and 5 laps on .25 diamond spray also instead of 20, then 10 light laps on a Crox pasted paddle which ive never done before. Then i skipped the rough leather and just did about 75 laps on bridle leather.

I gotta say this is one of the stickiest feeling TPT edges i've created my self. I mean it just feels sharp. I want to shave with it real bad.

I was planning on testing it out tonight but just remembered im kayaking tomorrow and the dopey latex neck gaiter on my dry suit irritates the heck out of my neck something awful after a recent shave.. so ill wait. Tomorrow night im pulling out the full kit for the shave test.

My main goal with this razor was to save the goldwash and not mess up the scales. The wash did get a little faded from the beginning of the resto.. but its still there, and i've loved the scales since i first laid eyes on em. The old Pinecone Admiral..

Yep, if it can be saved, Tom is the one who will do it.
