That sense of neatness is something I've had since a child Bill, my Mother once said how come that kid always looks so clean and tidy my mind always seems to work better within a orderly and organized space, the older I am i've always wondered if I was slightly autistic I've never been tested so who knows? It also ties in with my slight OCD not that it bothers me that much If I want I can overrule my OCD although I'm always aware of it.

Like most Kamisori it is about Pressure shift while honing,, I found this one to be about normal IMHO
Unlike western style razors that you can create "Torque" toward the edge with a twist of the Tang you have to use your fingers and a shifting pressure to apply torque while honing Kamisori...
Once the bevel is set evenly then you are good to go, you can see when people do not understand that concept by looking at the wear on the Hump and the top of the spine on so many Kamisori out there
You should see the one I just re-ground I am trying to get a before pic

Thanked: 1081I seemed to have dulled the edge on my Inoue Tosuke with my new Kiita, I think I may have made my slurry too thick... Anyhoo I decided to go back down my tried and tested route of synthetics. 7:1 on Naniwa SS 5k, 5:1 SS 10k and 3:1 then a few ultra light 1:1 Gokumyo 20k.
The resulting shave was very nice indeed.
I've been guilty of putting hone wear on kamis by not torquing the edge... but getting better all the time

Touching up a nice little "contract" razor. E. Kirschbaum, Patterson, N.J. .. a Diamondine, from Germany. Took it to my latest coticule that I love honing on..

Thanked: 13245I was hoping to get the before pic of the Kamisori but this is the one I ended up having to re-grind
The hollow was so ground flat that it geometrically could no longer get sharp Much better now but no way I could get it prefect.. It should be good for another lifetime at least..
This is a re-scale I did on a new custom, the maker I heard used to work for Hart but I am not positive of that, the grind was nice and even
Both were done on the Chosera 1-5-10k then on the Nakayama Midori with the "Ole' Yeller" naguraLast edited by gssixgun; 04-14-2016 at 03:18 PM.
