    Been a busy afternoon.
Finished the Engstrom on the charley forest, the Torpedo on the Coti. A lovely French point on the Escher, and an FBU on the same. The Robeson was also finished on the Escher.
    Cheers. Now to the leather!

Tried this before, and it never seems to work, any insights as to how I should approach this? I realize I'm going potentially back in grit from the 12k, but I still should be able to finish on this stone. I've just tried refreshing only using the Escher before, same as with the Nani 12k, 20 laps, no more, and doesn't seem to refresh the edge.

Here's the stone I'm going to use, this seems to be an older Escher stone, very dark blue, almost black in colour.

Massive frustration and rage sure to follow, but here's the plan for a nice Sunday afternoon....

Consider water only after the 12K. Do 10 strokes and test. Going from 12K to Thuri feels like honing on a much harder surface. Feels like backwards... Till the strop and shave. By my TPT I hate myself as well. The good that you did with the thuri and shines the brightest is while shaving. I end up doing 25 feather pressure laps water only strop and shave. Then I ask "How does that work scientifically?"

I got to re-hone some razors today. Guess who dinged The Admiral on his scuttle about 3 seconds before test shaving with it.. cmon guess. So yeah i rolled the edge. I had lather on my neck and everything. I shut the whole shaving operation down and got out the stones. I actually did not get pissed.. just slightly... dissapointed.

After fixing up the Ol Admiral i decided to re-hone the W&B i made some scales for about a month ago. This is the 3rd time i have honed it, and finally got a good edge on it. Its got some goofy geometry so in the end two layers of tape did the trick.

Im liking the edges using less passes on the diamonds and a few on the Crox.

Shave tested the W&B on the neck and The Admirals on the head. Im very happy i finally got the W&B to shave. I could not get the center of the blade to get a good bevel.. finally did. The Admirals is one of my better edges definitely. Very pleased this evening.. two razors that needed some TLC and now they are at the top of my list.

I always like to thank you guys for all the help i've gotten over the last few months so... thanks!!

Scientifically speaking, hard stones are good for razors so you couldn't be going backwards.
Hard stones afford consistent geometry & minimised lapping times.
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

I've tried to overhone with mine, and have been unsuccessful. It must take forever.

The Factory bevel: will barely catch arm hair let alone cut any

    I used one layer of 3M 700
Did a few passes on the Chosera 1k, looked at the uneven bevel forming, on the unstamped side so I pushed the honing in the directions needed to make a nice even bevel.. The stamped side was cutting just fine..
Finally brought it all together and had a sharp edge and even wear on the bevel, the pre-bevel work was done..

Moved to a variable ratio now for honing 10:1 on the 1k until it was popping arm hair like a champ
7:1 on the Chosera 5k and the edge is getting keen
5:1 on the Chosera 10k gets us stupid sharp and a near mirror
3:1 on the Nakayama using my Ole'Yeller nagura getting a sweet haze finish and the slurry goes to almost dry a few 1:1 finishing strokes and the edge is done
I switched the tape out a few times during that, the razor now has a near dead even bevel on both sides and zero hone wear

It's not only your beautiful collection of razors that makes me jealous, Jaime ... It's your propensity for neatness also!!
