Haven't tried lapping this one yet. It's pretty flat but ill probably throw it on the Sic powder at some point.
I keep sniffing it.. Smells like my grandpas garage.

Did 2 razors last night. 1st was a touch up with the Narutaki with slurry then clear water.
2nd is a fellow members razor. He was having issues so I checked it out for him. Edge was chippy and had rust starting on the blade and also rust around the pivot and tang. Needed to come apart for cleaning. Got it cleaned with rust removed and repinned. Started honing on the Chosera with the brown slurry stone to fix the edge up and reset the bevel. Killed and reset on the Chosera water only. Moved to the Naniwas for 3, 5, 8 and 12. Finished on La Grise coticule. Light slurry diluted to clean water. Finally silk finish linen and dubl duck shell.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Same Hones Different Razors
I sat down today and honed three razors all on Washita/Arkansas stones. From left to right is a no-name German extra hollow, an Engels "Argo Steel" (I haven't seen many of these), and another Mappin Webb.
The German blade just needed a touch up on the surgical black. About 60 passes starting with medium pressure and reducing down to weight of the blade.
The Engels Argo Steel I took from bevel set on a Washita with slurry all the way up to the surgical black. An easy hone as are most Engels razors.
The Mappin Webb already had a set bevel so I just used the Arkenstone progression soft>hard>surgical black. About 75 passes each.
All three got stropped on linen and shell leather (C-Mon blackie) and all three passes the HHT and shave test. I finished the shave with the Mappin Webb for a total of two passes resulting in a BBS Christmas Eve shave. Merry Christmas to all.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Thanked: 77I'm finally testing these stones!!!!
The first one is nothing special. It performs like your typical thuringian.
The second one (random purple rock???) is VERY FINE....finer than my thuringians But rather slow.
The final one turned out to be a green Belgian coticule. I've actually played with this one already and it's a very fast finisher that's on par with a thuringian but not quite as fine. I was told what layer it might be from but I'll have to look it up real quick.
