Okay. Kamisori had a nasty frown notch from possible edge damage and the barber honing on a mounded stone. Ground a bunch of steel off to reset the bevel on Shapton 3k (my favorite synthetic stone) then lessened the scratches and edge damage the kiita would have to repair with 14 passes on a shapton 6k. the kiita could do both- but I don't want to wail on it and put a dish i'd have to lap. Should have done a few more 6k passes as you can still see a few deeper scratches on the post 6k bevel.

Then #1200 diamond plate on this super fine Lv 4 Kiita to build a nice slurry. In short work the bevel was polished semi mirro and the soft iron jigane was slighlty hazy with reflection. Dillute to finish on water and hand stropped on my palm. Dry shaved my cheek super smooth- super sharp perfect edge. now I get to go have a nice wet shave. Name: unnamed (2).jpg

    Thumbs up

    From the weekend

Been a crazy week up here in the Northwoods so far or "I ain't dreaming of a White Christmas it is a reality"

A nice Ralf Aust, had to even up the bevel first for aesthetics with some delicate "Pushes" on the Chosera 1k,, then moved through the 10k,, and finally finished on the Nearly Black Thuringen

    Really sweet shavers

First time honing this recent acquisition- 6/8 full hollow Carl Monkhouse C-Mon. Bevel set on Chosera 1k, then on to the good old Norton 4/8 and finished on a lvl5 Ozuku Asagi. The resulting shave was oh so very smooth. This is my second C-Mon to hone and damn I love 'em. Happy holidays and happy shaves friends.

I don't have a picture today to share sadly.. Today my friend brought over his razor to hone.. a GD 208.. F*** I thought to myself while telling him no problem. I'll get it done for you tomorrow.. Anyways added a layer of tape and took it to my king 1k. Took about an hour and a half of x strokes. Bevel set... Then to BBW with slurry diluted to water and jumped to coti with water.. Shave was passable .. not very close but still a shave.. I want to get it a bit better so I'm thinking some more strokes on the coticule with a hint of slurry will fix this problem.. Still I don't have enough time really since my family is hosting a Christmas eve party.. Should I give it too him passable or wait and fix it up right.. I am already giving him a shave ready razor to use...

If he has a good shave ready blade in his hand just wait until you are satisfied that you have done the very best job that you can do. There is no guarantee it will be a wow shave but you should be confident that this is as good of a job as you can do.

I have a theory about this: Anything worth doing is worth doing right. I'll skip my second tenet "Perfect is good enough" and agree with rezdog in this case: Do your very best and you will be better and happier for it. Anything less and you'll only have regret.

I didn't think I ever was going to give it to him like that. I am giving him a shave ready razor so he can use that until I give him this one.. It is a GD so I'm not expecting an amazing shaver I just know I can do better. I mean it shaved but it wasn't up to my standards.. I think i'll add a layer of tape in the morning and do some x strokes on water only coticule.

DAMN I was saving my 1000th post for Christmas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
