That is seriously awesome. You do great work- perhaps a special appearance of belt grinder of the day showing your setup in hone of the day?

Spent some time lapping my new bevel setter on my lapping block.
I use clover brand lapping compound to get the ball rolling and run my reference marks a few times each side.

Took maybe 7 minutes per side to true it up, then I lapped against the king 1k a few strokes under the tap.

Cleaned up nicely and will be testing it out on some old British steel soon enough.

I collect the slurry, dose up small wheels and dry some out to add to polish compound as a great blade helper as well.

Great idea saving that slurry and putting it on the mini wheels Mike. Interested to also hear your thoughts on the Chosera 1k.

Interesting idea of saving the flattening slurry, but how you do you account for the inclusion of the lapping grit?

I only removed as much as needed to get it flat, based on my pencil grid. If you look in the running tap picture you can see the remainders of the grid in the corners still.
And that bowl is deceiving, it's a ramekin, I think the wife calls it. Only holds an ounce of liquid when full. Good for condiments, and slurry collecting.

Regarding the slurry, the original 240 grit I apply tends to wash out early on, and/or get held in the steel grid of the plate I find.
I collect my slurry at the end of the process and thus far haven't found any larger striations on my blade because of it. granted I tend to use this stuff at the original cleaning stages only, not after I move to wet paper, which is usually around the 600 grit anyway.
I suppose I could sift it through some silk screen I have. Good question though.
    Cheers

Practicing honing on two beaters tonight.

Solingen Hartkopf 6/8. Touch-up on Les Lat. Starting on misty slurry and slowly going to clear water.

Peroux Cognet frameback 'Le Talisman'. Shoubu Asagi with Botan, Shinden Suita and Tsushima slurry. Finish with hard Okudo Asagi tomo.

Had fun, and the upcoming days will tell how the edges turned out. Keep your honing sessions coming!

    Yesterday's hone ups
nothing too exciting in the hones department but a very reliable system
    1- a Oxley razor
    2- a Geneva Pyramid
Both back to full bevel set on the Nani 1k , then 40 passes on each Norton 4/8k & Nani 12k, 20 passes on the Pike Swaty, a dozen passes on the 0.3 Chrox & 0.1 Ferrox on Balsa.
Finished with 100 passes each on clean felt & English bridle,
Shave tested 1 weeks growth like a hot knife through butter.
Post shave stropped 100 passes each on my natural linen & Vegi tanned horse hide Scruppleworks
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

    Great idea,
Maybe mix it with bees wax for a 1k crayon ( 1 part wax to 3 parts or more of powder until it won't absorb the powder works well for my chrox )
And remember not to mix it up with the Crox as the grits will mess you up later Lol
