You SHALL swoop this razor! And go SLOWLY! Thank goodness for the Lipshaw strop. I would not get near a hanging strop with it!
Looks like it needs one of those M.C. Escher hones.

    See what I did there?

It did get a dab of Escher before it was over, TBH, but your meaning eludes me?

You could make a PVC holder for that one, it would straighten out that shank for ya. I use the 1/2" cpvc for most of them.

I was referring to the guy that did the mind bending prints but I was really thinking of Salvador Dali.

This should give him the idea
M.C. Escher - The Official Website

You know in 5 years of reading this forum the <Escher stone/MC Escher the artist> connection never occurred to me - thanks Oz!

Honed up an eBay vintage Boker, dating from the 1880's according to the tang stamp. I have heard the early Victorian Bokers weren't all that good, and that's my experience with this one example. It's a Montgomery Ward razor stamped 'H.B. & Co' with the Boker tree on the reverse tang and the Boker tree on the hard rubber scales. It was pretty dirty but cleaned up really well, small bevels but.... Honing it was a multi-hour journey but ended well.

There were two small chips within 6mm or so of the toe, the larger one closer to the toe and the smaller one aft. I honed the smaller one out by introducing a small 'smile' to the toe end of the razor so as not to remove massive amounts of steel, using a Shapton Pro 320 for the heavy lift (thanks Oz!). By then, the larger chip was small enough that I could radius the toe a tiny bit and the end of the razor is done.

The heel was massively overground, a la Gold Dollar, and there is a spine bulge both sides just north of the heel, though the bevel under it is uniform. The spine wear on the show side stopped completely about 10mm north of the heel. Nothing to do here but get with the SP 320 and hone away, again introducing a slight curve to minimize metal removal in the center where removal was not needed.

After all that, the bevel really does not look bad, about like many old razors you see. But now I had a true bevel toe to heel.

The progression after the SP 320 was Chosera 600, Shapton Pros 2k and 5k, Shapton Glass HC 8k, koma and tomo nagura on the hard 'ol yeller karasu. The edge returned silent HHT toe to heel.

    Cheers, Steve

Honed up my Boker Edelweiss. I hone it once a week to try new methods and practice until I believe it will shave no better. Today it saw a king 1k then on to my massive La veinette to finish. Dilucot Method success. First run through with it. I'd say we're gonna get along well.

    Yes that's the 7x2" king.
