    Thumbs up

One of my personal favorite brands of razors came in for honing today

Witte, "Gold Bug" these are just so sweet on the face really nice fine grinds

I found a pretty sharp heel hook on there that I took out on the DMT 325

Moved to the Chosera 1-5-10 finally on to my Escher with a very light slurry finish...

Those are good little razors Glen, I gave a shorty witte classic to my stepson, he likes it so far, expect it back when he comes up to go fishing, check the edge and strop it for him.

Learner, take a lesson from the older guys, WAIT a while before buying stones, read up on them, try to get to a honing mentor or meet up and THEN look for your first stones. One of the first things you might invest in is an inexpensive strop to help you get used to that so your next investment in an more expensive strop won't end up nicked or cut up, at that time your first stone would be a finisher, a slate, coticule or synthetic that you can keep the edge keen on. If I had it to do over that is exactly what I would do.

Fal: thanks for the input, however I have already put in my " nicking the strop" phase. I have been at it for over a year. When I started I dove in head first and bought the Shapton ceramic 1000, Noton 4/8, Naniwa 12,000,Guangxi. I started honing my own under the tutorage of Youtube. I got to the point where my razors could pass the HHT with my fine hair and they give me fine, smooth shaves. I went to the Iowa meet up a couple of weeks ago and got some valuable teaching from randydancer and utopian. There is always space for additional learning - I am receptive and appreciative of new tips.

Look at you Tom! Iowa meet behind you and in the honing section! Good for you, and you guys Tom will be honing up a storm, he comes from a very detail oriented background, hope to see you again. Tc

    Today's line up
1k Chosera, 5k Chosera, 8k Snow White/Kitayama (want to test how it works on razors), 10k Super Stone, Mejiro Nagura on Nakayama Kiita ( I am evaluating this one)

The Sheffield in the amber scales we restored by someone that really took their time to round it off nicely, it will be lots of "fun" setting the bevel on it...

Great selection of stones Thaeris. What kind of stone is the coloured big one pictured left?
