I bought way too much stuff way to early in this hobby/lifestyle and none of it really got me better shaves, because I switched it up too fast. My new advice is take it slow, all that stuff will still be there to buy tomorrow and it will still take the same amount of time to learn to use it correctly. I still wonder how much time I spend chasing my tail even now. There are many paths to the prefect edge and the perfect shave, but they are best traveled one at a time.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Same exact path I took early on, and the same result. If you include barber hones, at one time I had 60 hones. Sold most of them, and now only have one barber hone, and 22 others between natural and synthetic ....... like any normal person .........
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Completely agree with Rezdod! If your new to the adventure. Read everything that you can concerning Str8's; wait; and then wait longer and then ask; and then buy.

I trust that No Pasted Strops are to be allowed/just off of the hone then stropping on perhaps cloth and then leather?

Shave test went better than I was expecting. Against the grain just as smooth as with the grain. The ergonomics of this razor are stellar. Pin point control and an effortless shave, doesn't get much better than that!

They aren't cheap anyway, and I don't see any m500's at the moment.
