Randy suggested to me that I test every 10 or so strokes. When it comes to round trips on the hone more is not necessarily better IME. I like to use the blue/slurry and coticule/water one some razors and I like the gentle edge I get from that combo. I also like the pyramid method with the Nortons or the Shapton pros because it seems to work well for me. I haven't tried the Naniwa series yet. Down the road I probably will fork over the dough and see what all the fuss is about.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

+1'n with Jimmy, Less is more. I read so posts where guys are doing way too many strokes. Ben, try doing only 10 lapps on your Naniwa as a finisher. it's higher grit than a Coti, but just bearly...
Jimmy, You'll like the Naniwa 12k.....Start with that one...Gives great feedback! We have assumed control !
