From what I hear, and I've spoke to Maurice (He's the owner at Ardennes Coticule) The only stones they're producing these days are "La Grise"
I personally don't like them, but maybe someone has some experience with La Grise, that's helpful.

If you want a good Coticule, keep your eyes open here on the classifieds. Look for La petite blance, Dressante, and some of the other veins mentioned. It your truly not happy with it see, if Jarod will take it back.

P.S. I like Coticule too, Every once in a while I'll get a blade that will benefit from one. I find brittle edges react well to Coticules. I use a Dressante to start, and a La Nouvelle to finish.

Good Luck to you.
Rich your quite right mainly la grise and la grise combo's are being mined. they are acatuly softer than most likely the la grise you tryed. I have tryed 3 and i did'nt get along with them. i did'nt spend bags of time on them . Just realy difficult to get max from them. The only thingh i can think of is there absalutley slow as hell on water ... i struggled and if it was my first coticule i'd of binned them and whipped out a 4k/8k .. The la vainette i have is just total oposite i get shave ready edge with my eyes closed. the newer coticules seem a little differant, i'd recomend getting somthing alittle older , well mined a while ago
